Farmyard Darlings Letter #14: Farmyard Darlings Celebrate March Birthdays by Riding Through the Streets of Lafayette
A little bit of country was added to Lafayette last Thursday morning when 12 cowgirls rode their horses through downtown; the destination being Farmyard Darlings and a visit to The RoundUp for some refreshments.
This was a pre-planned March birthday ride for fellow cowgirls; Megan Lingberg, Burton Valley resident, Anne Branagh from Orinda, and JoAnn Gillespie from Briones-based Rawking Horse Ranch, and nine other riders. Farmyard Darlings, Kim Berry & Carole Sinclair are both Lafayette residents who are behind the successful store which sells vintage farmilicous finds and offers custom furniture made from reclaimed wood.
Some fun highlights:
The Cowgirl posse stopped traffic, had people taking photos and children running up to the school yard fences excited to see the horses parade down School Street.
Photos on social media went viral and comments such as...
"Farmyard Darlings are the heart and soul of our community.”
“We love The Darlings!"
"Let's Get 'er done Darlings!"
These fun impromptu happenings like this are one of the many reasons why I am so happy to be a part of Farmyard Darlings.
The Darlings are planning another April Birthday ride. At that time, I might either be in the shop or on a horse. Stay tuned for further details. Until then, keep your eyes out for this Farmyard Posse of amazing Cowgirls and what else these Darlings have up their cute Western shirt sleeves.
